ABOUT US

On the west coast of Namibia, you will find our craft distillery tucked away in the small harbor town of Walvis Bay. Located in the arid Kuiseb river delta and surrounded by the colossal dunes of the vast and desolate Namib Desert. 

 

In 2017 Copper & Coal distillery was founded in Walvis Bay. Our Craft distillery produces premium, handcraft spirits in small batches and create one small batch at a time. With a passion for quality and craft integrity, we take the finest ingredients and transform them into the ultimate spirits. Focusing on quality over quantity. Every part of the process is done right here at the distillery in Walvis Bay from fermenting to bottling, proudly Namibian.

DESOLATE GIN

A unique, distilled Namibian gin meticulously crafted by gentle infusion of the finest hand-selected botanicals. A special selection of  botanicals and a secret recipe form the makings of a perfectly balanced and unique distilled gin. A small batch craft gin that rings true to a handmade product, raw and unfiltered with a subtle difference between batches.

Desolate Classic 7 Gin

A special selection of seven botanicals and a secret recipe form the makings of a perfectly balanced and unique distilled gin. The quintessential juniper is distinctive without being overpowering. Lemon and blueberries are complimented by a delicate balance of Coriander, Cinnamon, Ginger and Black Pepper. Light and intricate, the perfect easy drinking gin straight from the desert. Copper & Coal brings you a modern classic. The Classic 7 Gin. 

Desolate Devils Claw Gin

OAK RESTED

 The quintessential Juniper and Namibian Devil’s Claw form the backbone of this fine gin. A special recipe of four herbs and spices with Mustard, Walnut Leaves, Black Pepper and Star Anise compliments the rich and complex Devil’s Claw. To soften the unforgiving character of Devil’s Claw, the gin is rested to perfection in fine French Oak Casks.Copper & Coal proudly brings you Oak rested Devil’s Claw Gin.

CRYSTAL CLEAR

 Juniper and Namibian Devil’s Claw form the foundation of this fine gin. A special recipe of four herbs and spices with Mustard, Walnut Leaves, Black Pepper and Star Anise complimenting the rich and complex flavours of Devil’s Claw. A truly Namibian interpretation of a well-rounded gin with Devil’s Claw as the star. Desolate Marula Gin

​A unique pot distilled Namibian gin meticulously crafted by gentle infusion of the finest botanicals. Infused with Marula fruit hand harvested in the Outjo region of our spectacular country Namibia. In this distinct Gin we pay tribute to an iconic fruit loved by both animals and humans alike. The beautiful Marula shines with its tangy, sweet and sour flavours clearly the star. The quintessential juniper is distinctive without being overpowering, complementing the Marula, creating a perfectly balanced refreshing gin.

OUR TEAM

Copper and coal craft distillery was founded by Andries and Marizaan van Schalkwyk in 2017 and started with a passion for quality and a challenge to make it the best product possible. As a husband and wife duo with a laboratory research and the other with a marketing and sales background, the challenge was taken on. Our team has now grown to include an office assistant and our go to guy on the factory floor.

We are proudly handcrafted, small batched and 100% Namibian owned and operated. Proud of our quality of work and the results!
